Welcome to the ‘Craft of Blogging’ blog!

My name is Sumit Bansal and I am a blogger who writes about the fascinating world of blogging.

I have been a blogging since 2013 (and a have been a full-time blogger since 2015).

The first blog that I started is about Excel Spreadsheets.

That blog went on to become one of the best Excel blogs in the world (among the thousands other Excel blogs). It enabled me to leave my full-time job at IBM, live the life of freedom I always wanted, help millions of people around the globe through my skills, and continue to explore the fascinating world of blogging.

My blogging story got featured on Problogger podcast, IndieHacker, Ideamensch, Side Hustle School Podcast, and many other sites and publications.

In 2018, my blog was also covered by The CEO Magazine as one of the “50 Emerging Startups to Watch in 2018”.

As of now, my Excel blog gets more than 350K+ page views a month and is steadily growing.

I am deeply, madly, truly in love with Excel spreadsheets and I’ll continue to blog about it.

But there is another area I am equally passionate about – blogging.

So I decided to start this blog to share what I have learned till now, and what I continue to learn each and every day.

Apart from my Excel blog, I have a couple of other blogs as well as Amazon affiliate sites. All of which I have been able to grow using the techniques I have learned over the years.

I am also fascinated by online tools and you will see me rant about many such tools in my blog posts.

My aim with this blog is to help people who want to start a blog and make a difference, but don’t know the right way to do it.

I will share the exact things I do (and the mistakes I’ve made) so that you can start and grow your blog the right way.

I am not an expert at blogging – rather a student of blogging.

I am also a co-host of the Himalayan Blogging Retreat. It’s a one-of-a-kind retreat where I conduct 3 days of blogging workshops with novice/intermediate bloggers. You can check the schedule here.
